- save for a year and at the end buy yourself a good system. time it so u get it at boxing day
- if you buy parts over many years, some will be outdated by the time you're finished. I suggest saving up.
- Either one makes sense. It all depends upon your budget. If you don't have the money all at once, it is easier to order a few parts at a time. The only drawback of ordering a few parts at a time is that you'll pay more in shipping.
- I build computers. I have a friend were he wanted a good pc. So we sat down and decided what we wanted. So over the next few months like 7 months. We found the better deals at newegg or tigerdirect or frys. So we bought all the parts and build from scratch. It worked good for him. Since he bought a few parts a month. Without breaking his wallet. I say find out what you want exactly and buy them in a few months you will have a computer.
- IMO no, by the time you finished your build it would be "outdated". =============== I was beat to it by Dave.
- In terms of money, a mass-market manufacturer like Dell can buy parts cheaper than you can (because they order the parts by the thousand, while you only get one). So, they will have a price advantage over buying the parts yourself. As someone else pointed out, upgrading over time means that some part of your system will be older than some other part. They'll work together fine, really, but you won't have a system where everything is new and shiny and top-of-the-line. If you are willing to settle for a computer with some year-old parts, then you will be happy enough with the equipment of a machine that you bought piece-by-piece, but you also will find that the parts you bought first have come down in price before you actually used them in your machine. It would probably be better to put the money in the bank and buy the parts all at once. If you want to have a high-end system, save your money and buy one pre-built. If you are willing to put up with some things being a bit older, you can build your own. You can't get the same "I built it myself" pride by ordering it from someone else, even if you do pick out every part, but then, perhaps that doesn't mean much to you.
