Computer Parts Supplier

What kind of computer parts are used when downloading, multi tasking and uploading to an iphone ?

I like to surf the web, put songs on my iphone and download music at the same time. Looking to update a 2001 computer with better parts, or just buy a new one. Wondering what would be cost effective. Does vista make it harder to download music then xp home?

  1. xp is cheaper and ALOTTTT easier to use than vists plz give me best answer
  2. Just by a new one. It is much easier than trying to replace certain parts of yours with newer technology. You can pick up a desktop for dirt cheap right now that is more than likely 4x faster and with 4x more available memory.
  3. Browsing, downloading stuff, uploading to devices, all of these things take a trivial amount of computing power to accomplish. You don't need to upgrade a damn thing. Maybe you would be interested in purchasing a larger hard drive to store more stuff, but you're totally fine in terms of performance. Vista and XP don't have much to do with downloading stuff. That task relies on a third party application. If whatever application you use works on XP and Vista (they pretty much all do), your experience will be the same.
  4. Vista is a harder operating system to run so you would need 2Gb ram+ for that. The processor is used for multitasking sometimes in combination with the RAM. Downloading stuff off the internet just requires a good internet connection. Uploading songs to an iPod would probably use up the processor but not too too much. I would just buy a new computer. The prices have gone down a lot and right now would be a good time to buy. (2001 is really outdated.. sorry.)
  5. For downloading you may want a decent sized hard drive. For multitasking you'll want more RAM and a decent processor. There's actually nothing wrong with too much RAM. For uploading to Iphone, make sure it has bluetooth adapter unless you use USB or something for that.
